LOVE "HYPHAEDRA" Capsule Collection of Beautifully made jewelry ​​from Stingray, silver , Leather and carbon,By Giuliana Mancinelli Bonafaccia, The Designer Recently Showcased her new collection at AltaRoma.

The Collection was inspired by the study of the “Vorkurs” workshop by Joseph Albers in 1927 during the preliminary semester at the Bauhaus. Giuliana also observed other artists like Ronal Relsh in the 1960’s and 70‘s and this collection is a reflection of empirical studies as well as structural and constructive matters that where used to test nature, qualities and textures of different materials. 

Giuliana  creates unique sculpture–like jewelry that are precious and iconic. She borrows the concept of interlocking complex structures from the students’ task of creating such elaborate designs mixing solely the primary materials (rough, simple and unusual materials such as paper, cardboard and balsa). 

The products of this work are the starting point of the jewelry creation (rings, bracelets and structural necklaces), based on a strong architectural connotations and the designer’s notions learned during her architectural studies before specializing in the creation of jewelry with experimental and conceptual shapes. 

The Collection’s distinctive features are the use of Leather, Silver and Carbon. Carbon is an innovative material experimented in the jewelry field since it used to be applied only in aeronautical, motorcycle, automotive and structural areas. 

The decision of using carbon is not accidental because this material “mimics” the extreme weightlessness of paper but it’s also distinguished by its extreme mechanical strength. Other qualities carbon’s resistance to temperature variations, to effects of chemical agents, and its ability to be flame retardant.
